Aromatherapy - Ravensara Gentle Anti-viral Remedy
By KG Stiles Platinum Quality Author
Ravensara ( Ravinsara aromatica ) has a soft, sweet aroma with a lightly camphorous scent, similar to Eucalyptus.
Ravensara has a reputation as a universal healing oil to be used for a broad spectrum of conditions.
It is especially beneficial for treating any type of respiratory illness like: bronchitis, sinusitis and flu.
Ravensara is an immuno-stimulant and promotes detoxification.
Its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties make it an excellent aromatic mist for use in a room. Or try a few drops in a bowel of steaming hot water.
Ravensara's very gentle action as an immune support make it one of the safest anti-infectious oils to use with children!
Ravensara also acts as gentle and nourishing support for the nerves making it especially good for treating chronic conditions.
Good results may be obtained for infectious mononucleosis, shingles and cold sores.
For shingles I recommend blending it with Sandalwood and Myrrh for inhalation.
Ravensara's tonic effect on the nerves make it useful for treating mental and physical fatigue.
May be beneficial in a blend with Neroli and Sandalwood for treating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
PLEASE NOTE: There are many cheap, synthetic copies of aromatic oils, but these are not recommended for therapeutic use. For best results purchase the highest quality oils you can possibly find. Use certified organic essential oils, or oils that have been tested and are pesticide free.

The Citrus Way
Aromatherapy - Sweet Orange the Happy Oil!
By KG Stiles Platinum Quality Author
Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) Essential Oil has a very sweet and fresh orange aroma that's warm and inviting, a rejeuvenating and uplifting tonic.
A nerve tonic Sweet Orange is a happy oil and eases physical and emotional tension.
Sweet Orange oil is a natural disinfectant. Spray the friendly scent of Orange oil into the air to immediately freshen any room's ambiance!
ROOM DEODORIZER: To 4 ounces of pure water add 80-120 drops of Sweet Orange oil, shake well and spray. Try a blend of Sweet Orange with Lemon oil!
As with other members of the citrus family Sweet Orange oil's natural astringency makes it an effective tonic for the circulatory and lymphatic systems.
Use Sweet Orange oil for relieving muscle soreness after exercise as it will stimulate the release of lactic acid that builds up in the muscles.
Its natural antiseptic properties make Sweet Orange oil a soothing mouth wash for treating gingivitis and mouth sores.
HOW TO flavor sugar or other ‘dry’ ingredients? Dispense a couple of drops of Sweet Orange oil on a piece of paper towel, lay the piece of paper towel on top of sugar, or other 'dry' ingredient, inside an 8 ounce container, seal and let stand for a week.
CAUTION: May cause photosensitivity. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight after skin application.
PLEASE NOTE: There are many cheap, synthetic copies of aromatic oils, but these are not recommended for therapeutic use. For best results purchase the highest quality oils you can possibly find. Use certified organic essential oils, or oils that have been tested and are pesticide free.

Essential Oils and Aromatherapy
ESSENTIAL OILS
What Are Essential Oils?
Do you feel you are a family that ‘lives at the Doctors?’
Do you spend countless dollars on prescription and non prescription medicine?
Are you tired of spending money and time at the Doctors to quite often be told ‘it’s a virus so keep up the fluids and get bed rest’?
If you answered ‘YES’ to any of these questions then you really should give Essential Oils – Aromatherapy a try.
Essential Oil is a concentrated liquid which is extracted from plants and used for medicinal purposes. A large variety of plants are used, as are all parts of the plant, eg: leaves, roots, stems, bark etc. Essential Oils date back as far as the Egyptians and have been successfully used in the treatment of physical, mental and spiritual ailments.
Aromatherapy
A large part of Essential Oil is the practise of Aromatherapy. An age old practise used in many countries around the world, and is now experiencing a revival in popularity. A combination of Essential Oils and Massage Oils are comprised from various plants and used in the treatment and cure of many ailments. Massage Oils are very therapeutic and help in the release of stress and anxiety which enables you to relax and also rejuvenate your body.
Medicinal Aromatherapy
If you have a family and feel like you are always at the Doctors, then why not try some Aromatherapy as treatment for minor ailments. Aromatherapy is excellent in relieving most common problems such as cough relief, nasal congestion, and other flu like symptoms. Aromatherapy is also used for nausea, vomiting and headache just to name a few. Of course if these symptoms persist you must consult a Doctor.
Aromatherapy - A Stress Release
Essential Oils are extremely popular in its use as Massage Oils. The sweet aromatic scent of the oils helps you relax and calm your mind and body whilst the oils (and goodness they provide) are absorbed into the skin leaving you to feel stress free and rejuvenated. The burning of scented candles and incense is another very popular use of aromatherapy to create a calm and relaxed environment. Our sense of smell is one of our strongest senses, therefore by the burning of various Essential oils creates a very serene atmosphere you can enjoy whilst becoming healthier.
There are hundreds of different Essential Oils with hundreds of different uses for eg: as an airfreshner, as insect repelent, cosmetics etc. You can even save money by making your own Essential Oils. This can easily be done by using plants and herbs from your garden and some household ingredients from your food pantry.

Stress Relief With Essential Oils
By Nick Arrizza, M.D. Platinum Quality Author
I report on several recent studies that assessed the potential use of essential oils in the alleviation of stress related conditions.
1. A significant study done by Atsumi, T and Tonosaki, K. (Department of Oral Physiology, Meikai University, School of Dentistry, 1-1, Keyaki-dai, Sakado-shi, Saitama 350-0283, Japan.) showed that inhaling lavender or rosemary essential oils for 5 minutes significantly reduced the levels of the hormone cortisol in saliva samples as well as significantly increasing the body’s natural free radical scavenging ability. Cortisol is a hormone that is normally elevated in stressful states. Additionally one finds elevated levels of tissue damaging “Free Radicals” in stress states. Free radical scavenging is the process by which the body “mops” up these dangerous chemicals and prevents tissue degeneration and reduces the risk of developing cancerous conditions.
2. In a study done by Hwang, JH from the Dept. of Nursing, Geochang Provincial College, Geochang-gun, Gyungnam, Korea. The researchers found that “an inhalation method using essential oils can be considered an effective nursing intervention that reduces psychological stress responses and serum cortisol levels, as well as the blood pressure of clients with essential hypertension.” The essential oils used in this study were a blend of lavender, ylang-ylang and bergamot used once daily for 4 weeks.
3. In a third study Hongratanaworakit, T, Buchbauer, G. Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Srinakharinwirot University, Nakhon-nayok 26120, Thailand. Reported that through the use of ylang-ylang essential oil absorbed through the skin their study group rated themselves as being calmer and more relaxed than the control group.
